Start with a clean grill. Turn the heat up high and cook any remaining bits of food of the grill rails. Use a scraper or grill brush but watch for grill brush bristles. They can get left behind and can get embedded in the food. This is a health risk if anyone should happen to swallow them.
Choose high quality beef and avoid pre-made patties. Drop your burger patties on a hot grill and let them sear on each side, flipping only one. Resist the urge to press down on the burger so you don’t squeeze the juices out of them. Once they are nice and carmelized on the outside move them to a warm area of the grill to finish cooking throughout.
Let the burgers rest once you take them off the heat. Just a few minutes and they will re-absorb much of the juiciness that will make them taste fantastic. You can then put them on a toasted bun and load them up with all your favorite fixins.
